Perform administrative work to support the operation of a clinical laboratory.<\/p>\n

BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform administrative work in a clinical laboratory.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations, and recommend disciplinary action. Must supervise at least two full-time employees (2.0 FTE) or an equivalent combination of part-time employees.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supervise and direct the work of Clinical Laboratory Coordinators and others, to include interviewing and selecting staff, assigning and scheduling work, acting upon leave requests, establishing job performance standards, conducting annual performance evaluations, recommending corrective action, and participating in disciplinary action plans;<\/p>\n

Develop, prepare, and maintain specialized reports regarding operational activities;<\/p>\n

Propose changes to staffing based on changes in departmental or organizational unit operations;<\/p>\n

Assist with development and implementation of systems and processes to evaluate and report on departmental or organizational unit key performance indicators;<\/p>\n

Establish, implement, and advise on clinical laboratory policies, regulations, and standards;<\/p>\n

Review workflow documentation for accuracy per document control standards and ensure updates are completed as necessary.<\/p>\n

Complete special projects as assigned;<\/p>\n

Plan and coordinate staff meetings;<\/p>\n

Perform the work of Clinical Laboratory Coordinators and Leads; and<\/p>\n

Perform other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

High school graduation or equivalent AND four years of clinical or public health laboratory experience to include one year of experience as a lead or supervisor.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
