{"id":5896,"date":"2024-04-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5896"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:07:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:07:07","slug":"clinical-laboratory-coordinator","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/clinical-laboratory-coordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Laboratory Coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18029 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n23655 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform administrative work to support the operation of a clinical laboratory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform administrative work in a clinical laboratory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under direct supervision, perform administrative work in a clinical laboratory such as accessioning, entering patient and specimen information into computer system, packaging laboratory specimen for shipping, and performing clerical laboratory support tasks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Follow established protocols for accessioning to include receiving, sorting, and labeling specimens;<\/p>\n<p>Package specimens for shipment to reference labs including preparing shipping manifests;<\/p>\n<p>Follow established protocols for confirming patient identity, labeling, and transport of specimens;<\/p>\n<p>Enter and receive laboratory testing requests in the computer system. Use laboratory and hospital computer systems to look up results, place orders and\/or answer any questions;<\/p>\n<p>Process legal requests for specimens and reports from external law firms ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements;<\/p>\n<p>Process pending logs, unreceived lists, error log reports to monitor work and\/or mandatory reports;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare documentation coordinate department logistics, and manage timelines for clinical case conferences.<\/p>\n<p>Answer, respond to, and place telephone calls using appropriate phone etiquette. Perform assigned clerical duties such as filing, archiving and retrieving slides\/blocks, reports, and requisitions\/other paperwork; Provide routine information on specimen processing methods to clinical staff;<\/p>\n<p>May assist in developing workflow documentation, process improvement projects, data collection to support departmental QA activities, and other related projects.
