{"id":5646,"date":"2024-03-26T17:13:10","date_gmt":"2024-03-27T00:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5646"},"modified":"2025-05-05T15:12:26","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T22:12:26","slug":"campus-police-lieutenant","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/campus-police-lieutenant\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Police Lieutenant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18786 (NE S WFSE Police Mgmt)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Assist in the administration and supervision of a division or shift of a campus police department.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions allocated to this class may serve as staff assistant to the head of a division of the security department; or direct a special activity such as training; or direct a line police unit including police sergeants. Incumbents have arrest powers and are required to be commissioned law officers under the regulations of the state.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coordinate the work of a functional unit with the work of the line division and recommend procedures and methods to increase department efficiency;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in the development of institution security programs;<\/p>\n<p>Review security department records and reports; initiate corrective action when necessary to ensure compliance with institution regulations, local, state, and federal law; prepare departmental reports as required;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and direct police department training programs; review the effectiveness of the unit;<\/p>\n<p>Plan, schedule, and assign security staff to shifts and sections;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in personnel processes; make recommendations on appointments, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and discharges;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two years of law enforcement experience or training in a supervisory capacity equivalent to Campus Police Sergeant; possession of a valid motor vehicle driver&#8217;s license; no previous felony convictions.
