{"id":5638,"date":"2024-03-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-27T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5638"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:04:53","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:04:53","slug":"campus-security-sergeant","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/campus-security-sergeant\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Security Sergeant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17636 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv)<br \/>\n22379 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supervise a squad or shift of security personnel at Harborview Medical Center or University of Washington Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions allocated to this class perform patrol duties of the security officer, and are responsible for supervising a group of security officers or other security staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Assign duties; train and supervise security officers to a shift or squad;<\/p>\n<p>Evaluate performance of subordinates to determine training requirements and deficiencies;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in development and conduct of training programs for security;<\/p>\n<p>Investigate complaints of disturbance, accidents, stolen property, or criminal activity;<\/p>\n<p>Patrol medical center buildings and grounds on foot or by vehicle to maintain security;<\/p>\n<p>Issue citations for violations of regulations;<\/p>\n<p>Write reports covering activity of squad or shift assigned; review and correct reports of subordinate officers;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High school graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver&#8217;s license; two years of work experience as a campus police, public safety or security officer, or equivalent; no previous felony convictions.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p>Legal Requirement(s):<\/p>\n<p>There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification.
