BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supervise a squad or shift of security personnel at Harborview Medical Center or University of Washington Medical Center.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Positions allocated to this class perform patrol duties of the security officer, and are responsible for supervising a group of security officers or other security staff.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Assign duties; train and supervise security officers to a shift or squad;<\/p>\n

Evaluate performance of subordinates to determine training requirements and deficiencies;<\/p>\n

Assist in development and conduct of training programs for security;<\/p>\n

Investigate complaints of disturbance, accidents, stolen property, or criminal activity;<\/p>\n

Patrol medical center buildings and grounds on foot or by vehicle to maintain security;<\/p>\n

Issue citations for violations of regulations;<\/p>\n

Write reports covering activity of squad or shift assigned; review and correct reports of subordinate officers;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

High school graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver’s license; two years of work experience as a campus police, public safety or security officer, or equivalent; no previous felony convictions.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
