{"id":5622,"date":"2024-03-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5622"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:04:48","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:04:48","slug":"carpenter-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/carpenter-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Carpenter Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18826 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22819 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead and work with carpenters to perform journey-level carpentry work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility to lead journey carpenters on a project or at a job location, to instruct other assigned workers, to correct and specify methods, and to perform skilled carpentry repair and fabrication work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform all duties of a carpenter;<\/p>\n<p>Lead assigned personnel in the performance of work;<\/p>\n<p>Assure adherence to safety rules and precautions by assigned personnel;<\/p>\n<p>Develop preliminary cost estimates for installations and repairs;<\/p>\n<p>Develop methods and procedures followed by assigned personnel;<\/p>\n<p>Perform alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, facilities and equipment;<\/p>\n<p>May perform work in other trades;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One year, full-time experience as a journey carpenter or equivalent trade skill.
