Perform at a technical level, various routine laboratory tests, and\/or other laboratory processing and set up work which supports the operation of a clinical laboratory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others. Perform the work of Clinical Laboratory Technicians and may contribute to the development and evaluation of new laboratory processes and procedures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of assigned staff; provide input to the supervisor and\/or manager on employee performance;<\/p>\n<p>May participate in the interview process for new staff; participate in new employee orientation and training;<\/p>\n<p>Assist with solving daily issues, such as equipment problems and staff assignments;<\/p>\n<p>May Perform quality control tests; adjust and perform minor maintenance on equipment; review and report the daily operational status of equipment, initiate repair service calls, and document malfunctions;<\/p>\n<p>Assist with inventory and order supplies;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the work of a Clinical Laboratory Technician I and II;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An Associate Degree from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program including courses in chemistry and biology and one year of Clinical Laboratory Technician experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>07\/01\/2013: New Class to WFSE HMC bargaining unit as result of a PERC order retroactively effective to 05\/01\/2011.<br \/>\n03\/01\/2009: New Class<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 18720 Clinical Laboratory Technician Lead (NE S WFSE HMC) 22784 Clinical Laboratory Technician Lead (NE H NI WFSE HMC) CLASS SERIES CONCEPT Performs duties in support of the operation of a clinical laboratory, such as conducting laboratory testing and preparation or set up of testing specimens.
