BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Operate computer equipment.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Second-level class of series. Fully-qualified working level. Under general supervision, perform technical tasks related to computer operations, such as setting up, adjusting, readying and operating computers and peripheral equipment.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Operate computers and peripheral equipment including setting up and adjusting according to operating instructions;<\/p>\n

Prepare reports of operating records; programs and machine malfunctions along with corrective actions taken; maintain program documentation and related production backup material;<\/p>\n

Receive, store and maintain computer supplies inventory;<\/p>\n

Perform minimal operational maintenance tasks such as servicing tape, disk, card, print devices and peripheral equipment;<\/p>\n

Operate computer-related equipment such as graphic plotters, remote job entry stations;<\/p>\n

May perform tape library functions;<\/p>\n

May communicate with remote terminal users through computer console;<\/p>\n

May assist in staff orientation;<\/p>\n

May perform the duties of Computer Operator I;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

One year of full-time experience as a Computer Operator I, or equivalent; OR six months of experience as a Computer Operator I, or equivalent and six months of applicable training; OR six months of experience as a Computer Operator I, or equivalent and one year of experience as a Data control Technician I.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
