Operate, maintain, and monitor system processes and hardware peripheral devices through system console(s) to ensure the readiness of robotics, print, disk, network, and other complex subsystems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Routinely assign, instruct, train, and review the quality of service provided by other computer support specialists. Assist the supervisor with performance evaluations and participate in creating, maintaining, and implementing operational procedures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monitor and react to alarms generated from system consoles, hardware, and system management tools. Perform recovery and diagnostic routines documented by professional or technical staff. Maintain and configure application monitoring tools and related diagnostic and reporting procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Operate, maintain, and monitor hardware peripheral devices and the supporting software tools to ensure the readiness of robotic, print, disk, network, and other complex computer subsystems.<\/p>\n<p>Monitor and react to local and wide area network alarms generated by management tools. Perform network diagnostic routines documented by professional or network technical staff.<\/p>\n<p>Monitor and react to environmental alarms generated by monitoring hardware and software tools that support HVAC, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Fire Alarms, Water Detection Alarms, and Building Security Systems. Perform necessary related duties to minimize physical damage to network and computing equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Report, record, and escalate problem events to the appropriate technical support staff, internal departments, departmental users, and vendor support staff.<\/p>\n<p>Automate job function by implementing\/using sophisticated software utilities and developing and writing high-level language programs using scripts, job control, or compiled languages.<\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision provide limited system administration tasks for Data Center&#8217;s internal servers and workstations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Computer Science, or other related degree, and 2 years of experience as Computer Operator III.<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>Or 6 years of work experience in a large enterprise IT environment, demonstrating continued growth in progressively more complex technologies (e.g. system administration; scripting, programming; and networking principles, protocols, and architecture).<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>Or a combination of education and large IT enterprise experience plus 2 years of as an Computer Operator III in Computing &amp; Communications enterprise operations environment and six months of experience in a supervisory or management position.<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>Position requires excellent written and oral communications skills and demonstrated ability to supervise staff and basic System Administration experience with at least two of the following operating systems Unix OS, NT and\/or Unisys A-Series MCP.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>07\/01\/2000: New Class<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17392 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22312 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) BASIC FUNCTION Lead assigned personnel and provide complex application(s), system(s), [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":96,"featured_media":0,"parent":12,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5528","page","type-page","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
