{"id":5504,"date":"2024-03-26T16:16:29","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T23:16:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5504"},"modified":"2025-05-06T13:01:33","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T20:01:33","slug":"control-technician","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/control-technician\/","title":{"rendered":"Control Technician"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18828 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22821 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform skilled work in the inspection, testing, servicing, and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and electrical controls for heating, air-conditioning, and related equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Work requires special skills in instrument and control maintenance, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Work involves installation, modification, trouble diagnosis, testing, repair, calibration and operation of a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic equipment and apparatus used in heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems;<\/p>\n<p>Lay out, fabricate, and install mechanical pneumatic electrical and electronic temperature and humidity controls for heating and ventilation systems; may design systems;<\/p>\n<p>Use such tools as drill presses, grinders, band saws, hand drills, soldering guns, small hand tools and specialized apparatus;<\/p>\n<p>May trouble-shoot and repair fire alarm systems as assigned;<\/p>\n<p>Trouble-shoot and repair central supervisory control system components;<\/p>\n<p>Order and stock temperature controls, valves, and related parts for repair and installation of electrical, mechanical, electronic and pneumatic control systems;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completion of a four-year approved institution course as a Control Technician Trainee; OR four years of applicable experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and pneumatic control systems.
