BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supervise assigned personnel in the operation of a unit providing custodial services.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.<\/p>\n

Under general direction, in a custodial services department serve as a second-line supervisor (supervising Custodian Supervisor(s) 1 or Hospital Custodian Supervisor(s) 1) OR supervise a staff of at least 20 cleaning and custodial staff. Supervise staff, train subordinates, and perform administrative responsibilities such as recommending budget levels for supplies and equipment, staffing levels, staff training requirements, and department policies and procedures.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Determine staffing needs for buildings; oversee activities in assigned area of responsibility;<\/p>\n

Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and machinery;<\/p>\n

Recommend projected needs for personnel, supplies and equipment;<\/p>\n

Maintain established custodial standards of cleanliness by inspection of assigned areas of responsibility;<\/p>\n

Assist in the development and implementation of departmental training for employees;<\/p>\n

Assist in maintaining budget control for labor and materials;<\/p>\n

Coordinate provision of custodial services with other departments;<\/p>\n

Prepare a variety of reports such as analyses of custodial workloads, service requirements, and employee job performance;<\/p>\n

Perform the duties of Custodian Supervisor I;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three years of experience in custodial or general maintenance work, including two years of experience as a Custodian Supervisor 1 or Hospital Custodian 1.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
