BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stage production systems into a computer along with associated data files through the use of remote terminal devices or job submission procedures.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Senior-level class of series. Incumbents perform complex data control tasks in the preparation and maintenance of production systems, such as preparing documentation or reviewing it for workability and established standards, or staging for systems requiring precise sequencing and\/or interaction with multiple systems passing data files back and forth.<\/p>\n

Under general supervision, develop relevant parameter information for specific application programs, such as job control language, working file size, output media, using knowledge of departmental procedures and standards.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stage production to include preparation and inclusion of program parameters, run date, input\/output file requirements;<\/p>\n

Maintain job run books and job controls to ensure compliance with job set-up and implementation procedures;<\/p>\n

Facilitate improved production by making minor modifications to standard set-up routines to include re-scheduling;<\/p>\n

Facilitate completion of scheduled production processing through coordination of off-site computer facilities;<\/p>\n

Confer with programmers regarding system failures;<\/p>\n

Prepare and review job summary reports of completed production jobs; initiate corrective action, as necessary;<\/p>\n

May write staging procedures and flow charts;<\/p>\n

May provide technical direction to other personnel;<\/p>\n

May provide shift turnover documentation;<\/p>\n

May perform the duties of Data Control Technician II;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

One year of full-time experience as a Data Control Technician II, or equivalent.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
