Works independently under general supervision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Edit written research publications; work with authors on necessary revisions; advise authors on technical matters of production;<\/p>\n<p>Clarify ambiguous or incomplete materials; may rewrite as necessary;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate editorial schedules and the production and promotion of assigned publications; may recommend design and format of publications;<\/p>\n<p>Read and review proposed manuscripts; may recommend and arrange for expert readers and secure their evaluations; may present lectures regarding the preparation of theses and dissertations;<\/p>\n<p>May recommend and introduce methods of reducing cost and time in production of publications;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare materials for publications; plan layouts; prepare paste-ups;<\/p>\n<p>Review and correct galley proofs and page proofs;<\/p>\n<p>Review and recommend format, illustrative materials, etc.;<\/p>\n<p>May accept manuscripts which conform to institution&#8217;s policies and procedures;<\/p>\n<p>May write original copy for publications;<\/p>\n<p>May advise junior editors in solution of editorial and\/or technical problems relating to production;<\/p>\n<p>Review professional journals and books to stay abreast of new requirements in technical writing field;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in English, journalism, humanities, or related field; AND one year of editing experience; or five years of combined college education and editing experience; or five years of full-time publication and\/or editing experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>02\/07\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n12\/14\/1973: Revise Class<br \/>\n09\/16\/1976: Revise Class<br \/>\n05\/01\/2000: New to CSA<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17756 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22423 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) DEFINITION Evaluate, edit, and\/or rewrite written research materials for printing; coordinate their production.
