BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the highest technical level, develop procedures for and conduct complex electroneurodiagnostic testing and other electrophysiologic examinations in all settings; perform technical interpretation of data and relate findings to physicians or neurophysiologist; collect and analyze data; manage clinical investigatory activities; and train Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists and others.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under general direction, devise and standardize electrophysiologic tests for clinical use; independently perform complex examinations such as electrophysiologic tests requiring extensive computer analysis and\/or computation of recorded data; provide technical interpretation of data and provide work direction to others.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Develop and perform complex procedures for examinations in a variety of environments such as at the bedside, intensive care units, emergency units, and operating rooms;<\/p>\n

Identify technical and physiologic problems during examinations in complex environments; troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered;<\/p>\n

Collect and analyze data using computerized systems; review and edit recordings and provide technical interpretation to physicians or neurophysiologists for clinical correlations;<\/p>\n

Provide input regarding the review and purchase of new equipment;<\/p>\n

Act as a resource for other technologists;<\/p>\n

Participate in research projects, conferences and technical meetings;<\/p>\n

Assist in assigning and scheduling work;<\/p>\n

Provide input during performance evaluations of other staff;<\/p>\n

Perform the work of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists II;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Successful completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist training program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation requirements AND two years of experience in a laboratory performing clinical electroneurodiagnostic tests.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
