{"id":5360,"date":"2024-03-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5360"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:03:31","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:03:31","slug":"engineering-assistant-1","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/engineering-assistant-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Engineering Assistant 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17639 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22381 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under direction, design and develop architectural and\/or engineering plans and cost estimates for construction or modification of institutional buildings and facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility for applying cur\u00adrent construction methods, materials, codes, and practices in the development of architectural and\/or engineering designs for construction and alterations of buildings and facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Investigate and solve assigned problems related to design of alteration or repair of institutional buildings, grounds, or utilities;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in project designs including examination of site, the taking of field notes, sketches, and engineering calculations; and the development of technical specifications;<\/p>\n<p>As directed, inspect construction in progress to verify conformity to project plans and specifications;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare estimates of cost and construction schedules for project construction;<\/p>\n<p>May lead the work of drafting or engineering technicians;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two years college or technical school training with emphasis in architecture or engineering plus two years of experience in drafting and designing related to building construction.
