{"id":5307,"date":"2024-03-26T14:35:51","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T21:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5307"},"modified":"2025-05-09T10:59:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T17:59:22","slug":"glazier","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/glazier\/","title":{"rendered":"Glazier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18840 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22832 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform skilled glass work in the fabrication, repair, and installation of glass and glass components.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class perform a variety of journey &#8211; level duties in skilled glass repair and installation work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Repair broken windows in wood sash, metal sash, steel sash, aluminum sash, lead and zinc sash, by removing broken glass and putty and installing new glass and putty;<\/p>\n<p>Cut and seam glass, drill holes, place finger pulls in glass, cut glass tubs, bottles, tubing;<\/p>\n<p>Make, install, or repair desk tops, table tops, glass doors, etc.; repair mirrors, glass light fixtures, plastic fixtures;<\/p>\n<p>Rebuild windows, reglaze new or used sashes; use ladders and staging platforms;<\/p>\n<p>Replace and repair automotive glass, windshields; construct boxes, brackets, fish tanks of glass and plastic; install stained glass;<\/p>\n<p>Develop preliminary cost estimates for installations and repairs;<\/p>\n<p>Drive service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies;<\/p>\n<p>May lead and instruct helpers as required;<\/p>\n<p>May perform work in other trades;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a glazier; OR full journey status as a glazier in a union; OR four years&#8217; applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
