{"id":5299,"date":"2024-03-26T14:33:15","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T21:33:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5299"},"modified":"2025-05-09T11:01:41","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T18:01:41","slug":"graphic-designer-illustrator","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/graphic-designer-illustrator\/","title":{"rendered":"Graphic Designer\/Illustrator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17514 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22332 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Design, illustrate and prepare a variety of artwork for publications, research or instructional use, media presentations, and displays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision, design and prepare original artwork for a variety of communication purposes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Design, layout and illustrated produce camera-ready art for publication such as brochures, posters, signs, bulletins, educational information and materials, using a variety of techniques and materials such as pen and ink overlays, airbrush and photographs;<\/p>\n<p>Select most appropriate techniques and materials available within the project budget;<\/p>\n<p>Design and produce graphics such as ink drawings, diagrams, charts, transparencies, models, signs posters and other graphic materials for instructional use, publication, television and displays;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare preliminary and finished drawings from original materials and\/or process reproductions from books, slides, sketches, and maps;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare parallel projections, technical and\/or other working drawings from verbal instructions, consultation with clients, samples and specimens, using other reference materials as necessary;<\/p>\n<p>Specify typography, paper stock, ink color, photographs, other items and techniques for use in printed materials;<\/p>\n<p>Produce finished artwork, colored charts and drawings;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare and coordinate a variety of camera-ready artwork for reproduction by offset and\/or letter press, xerography, photographic means, and serigraphy;<\/p>\n<p>Copy fit text and scale photographs and other illustrations to finished layout;<\/p>\n<p>May check galleys, page proofs, press proofs, bluelines, color separation proofs and prepare as required; select paper stock and binding methods;<\/p>\n<p>May operate computer graphics terminals to design visuals and produce photographic and hard copy originals;<\/p>\n<p>May write copy for publications as requested by clients.<\/p>\n<p>May perform the work of Graphic Illustrators.<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One year of applicable college-level training in graphics design, or equivalent art school training AND one year of experience as a Graphic Illustrator.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/03\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n06\/19\/1975: Revise Class\/Title<br \/>\n01\/13\/1977: Revise Title<br \/>\n03\/21\/1988: Revise Class\/Title<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17514 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22332 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) BASIC FUNCTION Design, illustrate and prepare a variety of artwork [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":96,"featured_media":0,"parent":12,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5299","page","type-page","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
