{"id":5230,"date":"2024-03-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5230"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:02:52","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:02:52","slug":"industrial-hygienist-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/industrial-hygienist-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Industrial Hygienist 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18526 (E S WFSE Campuswide)<br \/>\n18524 (NE S WFSE Campuswide)<br \/>\n22654 (NE H NI WFSE Campuswide)<\/p>\n<p>18653 (E S WFSE HMC)<br \/>\n18651 (NE S WFSE HMC)<br \/>\n22726 (NE H NI WFSE HMC)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Develop and implement industrial hygiene programs for application in campus, industry, and\/or community areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, develop and coordinate major components of an industrial hygiene program such as management of toxic materials, hazardous wastes, and\/or surveillance of employee exposure to hazardous chemicals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Develop and coordinate implementation of program methods designed to minimize levels of occupational health hazards and community pollutants;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in the planning and conduct of industrial hygiene research projects;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare reports; analyze and evaluate findings and\/or laboratory data concerning occupational health hazards;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate with outside agencies, community members, and contractors such as pollution control agencies, pesticide contractors, disposal contractors concerning hazardous wastes, and public or employee work exposures;<\/p>\n<p>Interpret findings and recommendations of industrial hygiene investigations; consult with management personnel to implement recommendations;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and conduct inservice training courses;<\/p>\n<p>Develop procedures for maintenance of industrial hygiene information systems;<\/p>\n<p>May perform the duties of Industrial Hygienist I;<\/p>\n<p>May lead assigned personnel;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Bachelor&#8217;s Degree with major study in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, biological or physical science, or closely related field; and three years of professional experience in industrial hygiene programs.
