{"id":5218,"date":"2024-03-26T13:40:42","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T20:40:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5218"},"modified":"2025-05-22T11:14:04","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T18:14:04","slug":"interpreter-services-coordinator","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/interpreter-services-coordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"Interpreter Services Coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>23414 (NE S SEIU Local 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n23415 (NE H NI SEIU Local 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coordinate the operations of the Interpreter Services department and assign resources for patients requiring language support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, partner with patient care areas, staff interpreters, and outside contractors to ensure that language support requirements are met for patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) or who identify as Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHOH).<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Independently assess language support needs and coordinate resources with consideration for the following factors: clinical acuity, individual patient need, cultural, religious and gender sensitivities, cost effectiveness, staff productivity, and organizational risk;<\/p>\n<p>Interface with patient care areas to coordinate interpreter requests, troubleshoot any barriers to care;<\/p>\n<p>Work with hospital and clinic staff to ensure that patient care communication needs are met and that policies and guidelines around language access are understood;<\/p>\n<p>Analyze needs throughout the day to effectively assign interpreters via in-person, video, or telephonic interpreter modalities;<\/p>\n<p>Utilize Epic to assign resources to patients with interpreter needs, document efforts to request interpreters, note relevant information, and create schedules for staff interpreters;<\/p>\n<p>Document feedback regarding services, use critical thinking skills to resolve barriers, and escalate as appropriate;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate additional needs, availability schedules, and generate reports in accordance with current departmental procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Monitor program activities in relation to established Interpreter Services goals, and participate in QA\/QI work, both by operating within expectations and participating in the planning process\/feedback process;<\/p>\n<p>Respond to patient care, facility, and environmental emergencies according to established procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Reconcile invoices, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate payment for contracted vendors;<\/p>\n<p>Attend meetings and\/or conferences as program representative;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain and order supplies; maintain office equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by manager;<\/p>\n<p>Perform other duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in a healthcare or administrative role.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>12\/16\/2022: New Class<br \/>\nThis body of work used to be allocated to job code 17256, Program Coordinator (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 23414 (NE S SEIU Local 925 Non Supv) 23415 (NE H NI SEIU Local 925 Non Supv) BASIC FUNCTION Coordinate the operations of the Interpreter [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":96,"featured_media":0,"parent":12,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5218","page","type-page","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
