{"id":5158,"date":"2024-03-24T18:39:49","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T01:39:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5158"},"modified":"2025-05-22T11:36:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T18:36:08","slug":"lightning-maintenance-technician","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/lightning-maintenance-technician\/","title":{"rendered":"Lightning Maintenance Technician"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18820 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22813 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform work of a semi-skilled nature in the maintenance and repair of interior and exterior lighting fixtures such as retrofitting fixtures and replacing fuses, ballasts, and lamp sockets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision, maintain and repair interior and exterior lighting fixtures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair of interior and exterior fluorescent, incandescent, and high intensity discharge building light fixtures;<\/p>\n<p>Replace fuses, ballasts and lamp sockets;<\/p>\n<p>Retrofit fixtures including converting\/modifying existing fixtures to be more energy efficient by replacing ballasts, lamps and optics or installing a variety of manufactured UL Listed retrofit kits;<\/p>\n<p>Operate motor vehicles and equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and personnel lifts;<\/p>\n<p>Operate power tools and equipment such as drill motors and power screwdrivers;<\/p>\n<p>Operate electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, multimeters, and light meters;<\/p>\n<p>Set up workstations from a variety of elevated positions using ladders, personnel lifts, and scaffolding;<\/p>\n<p>Clean and maintain shop areas, work site, and storage areas;<\/p>\n<p>Load and unload supplies and materials;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Washington State Nonresidential Lighting Maintenance Technician Certificate or, two years (4000 hours) of experience as a certified trainee performing work in this category under the direct supervision of a journey-level electrician, nonresidential maintenance electrician, or lighting specialist electrician.
