This class requires a general knowledge of several related skill fields such as plumbing, electrical, welding, and machinist work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform preventive maintenance and repair on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry, kitchen, hospital, laboratory and air-conditioning equipment; clean or change filters, change oil, grease; adjust drive belts; inspect sprockets, shafts and bearings to ensure proper operations;<\/p>\n<p>Inspect and test mechanical systems;<\/p>\n<p>Operate machine shop equipment including engine laths, drill press, grinder, milling machine, hydraulic press to fabricate equipment parts;<\/p>\n<p>Perform preventive maintenance and repair on motor vehicles and heavy construction equipment, gas and diesel;<\/p>\n<p>Operate a variety of hand tools;<\/p>\n<p>Assist faculty with fabrication and operation of experimental equipment and apparatus;<\/p>\n<p>Drive service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies;<\/p>\n<p>May lead and instruct helpers;<\/p>\n<p>May perform work in other trade skills;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Full journey status as a Machinery Mechanic by work experience, vocational, or trade school, or apprenticeship programs, or any combination of the above; or, four years of applied work experience. Vocational training may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
