{"id":5142,"date":"2024-03-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5142"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:02:25","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:02:25","slug":"mail-carrier-driver-a","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/mail-carrier-driver-a\/","title":{"rendered":"Mail Carrier-Driver A"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18564 (NE S WFSE Campuswide)<br \/>\n22689 (NE H NI WFSE Campuswide)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sort, deliver, and collect United States Government and campus mail; operate delivery truck or van as required incidental to the distribution and collection of mail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions at the &#8220;A&#8221; level drive motor vehicles of less than one ton capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Positions at the &#8220;B&#8221; level regularly must drive vehicles of at least one ton capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbents may be expected to apply knowledge of United States Post Office Regulations, Chapter I.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drive pickup, panel, and other trucks and\/or other motor vehicles;<\/p>\n<p>Deliver and collect United States mail including parcel post packages and campus mail including books, files, cartons, etc.;<\/p>\n<p>Case and sort United States and campus mail;<\/p>\n<p>Load mail sacks; may place meter tapes on flats and packages, and occasionally operate mailing machines;<\/p>\n<p>Make delivery to, and pick up from, United States Post Office, bulk, insured, registered, certified, and regular mail;<\/p>\n<p>As required, sort, classify, and rate mail for proper postage;<\/p>\n<p>Use hand trucks, dollies and mail carts in the transport of materials;<\/p>\n<p>May make on-campus deliveries for commercial surface or air transport services;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High School graduation or GED Certificate; valid motor vehicle operator&#8217;s license.<\/p>\n<p>Six months office or clerical experience may be substituted for educational requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>03\/07\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n03\/14\/1975: Revise Title &amp; Class<br \/>\n06\/16\/1978: Revise Title (A)<br \/>\n06\/16\/1978: New Class (B)<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 18564 (NE S WFSE Campuswide) 22689 (NE H NI WFSE Campuswide) DEFINITION Sort, deliver, and collect United States Government and campus mail; operate delivery truck or van as required incidental to the distribution and collection of mail.
