operate delivery truck or van as required incidental to the distribution and collection of mail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions at the &#8220;A&#8221; level drive motor vehicles of less than one ton capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Positions at the &#8220;B&#8221; level regularly must drive vehicles of at least one ton capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbents may be expected to apply knowledge of United States Post Office Regulations, Chapter I.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drive pickup, panel, and other trucks and\/or other motor vehicles;<\/p>\n<p>Deliver and collect United States mail including parcel post packages and campus mail including books, files, cartons, etc.;<\/p>\n<p>Case and sort United States and campus mail;<\/p>\n<p>Load mail sacks; may place meter tapes on flats and packages, and occasionally operate mailing machines;<\/p>\n<p>Make delivery to, and pick up from, United States Post Office, bulk, insured, registered, certified, and regular mail;<\/p>\n<p>As required, sort, classify, and rate mail for proper postage;<\/p>\n<p>Use hand trucks, dollies and mail carts in the transport of materials;<\/p>\n<p>May make on-campus deliveries for commercial surface or air transport services;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High School graduation or GED Certificate; valid motor vehicle operator&#8217;s license.<\/p>\n<p>Six months office or clerical experience may be substituted for educational requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>03\/07\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n03\/14\/1975: Revise Title &amp;
