{"id":5118,"date":"2024-03-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5118"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:02:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:02:18","slug":"maintenance-mechanic-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/maintenance-mechanic-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Maintenance Mechanic Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18816 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22809 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead and work with journey trades workers performing skilled maintenance work in the repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, ground, facilities and equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class are distinguished by the responsibility to lead journey-level trades workers at a project or job location, to instruct workers, correct and specify methods, and to perform skilled maintenance work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution;<\/p>\n<p>Plan, layout, direct, and inspect the work of journey-level trades workers;<\/p>\n<p>Recommend repairs in maintenance work and consult with supervisors on project requirements; determine material and manpower requirements and make estimates;<\/p>\n<p>Attend and give technical training courses; keep records and make reports as required;<\/p>\n<p>Act as a project lead for assigned job order work of a complex nature;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One years full-time experience as a Maintenance Mechanic II, journey-level trades worker, or equivalent.
