Positions in this class require a knowledge of Federal Communications Commission regulations and state and local laws relating to closed-circuit telecommunications.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A&#8221; Level &#8211; Positions are distinguished by their responsibility for designing, developing, and installing audio-visual systems and may coordinate and direct the work of technical personnel and student assistants in engineering operations and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;B&#8221; Level &#8211; Positions are distinguished by their responsibility for designing, developing, and implementing telecommunications systems ranging in complexity from closed-circuit television systems to interactive cable distribution systems for multi-building, campus-wide operations, control switching centers, color television production studios, microwave network interconnects, and related distribution systems including supervision of technical personnel and student assistants in engineering operations and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Positions also have total engineering responsibility for the media engineering and maintenance shop.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Direct and administer all phases of media engineering and maintenance, and production activities, including selection and training of staff, budget development and management, and documentation of services;<\/p>\n<p>Design closed-circuit systems involving audio-video, RF switching, processing, transmission, distribution, and reception systems;<\/p>\n<p>Act as a technical consultant on planning, design, and installation of tele-communications systems for campus;<\/p>\n<p>Evaluate, develop, and review bid specifications for purchase of electronic media equipment, including professional television, professional audio, photographic, RF distribution and electronic test equipment; coordinate all institutional media equipment purchases;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain comprehensive telecommunications and media equipment files, and evaluate new equipment to determine applications and limitations;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A&#8221; Level &#8211; Four years of college or technical school training in radio, television, electrical, electronics, or related engineering field; AND two years of responsible experience in electronics work including one year of closed-circuit television experience involving design, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance, and one year of applicable lead or supervisory experience.
