{"id":5084,"date":"2024-03-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5084"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:02:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:02:08","slug":"media-laboratory-coordinator","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/media-laboratory-coordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Laboratory Coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17562 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22359 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coordinate the operation, maintenance, and scheduling of a media laboratory, and the acquisition of instructional media equipment and materials for the use within that facility; may direct the work of other employees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class are responsible for all activities of a media laboratory operation taking direction from a Program Director, or equivalent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Direct support personnel and\/or coordinate the operation, maintenance, and scheduling of media laboratory equipment and teaching materials (e.g., listening booths, recording and record transcription equipment, short-wave radios, dial access, erasing and reproduction equipment, tape recorders, film strips, slides, video film and viewing equipment, etc.); work may include dubbing, editing, and duplication of tapes;<\/p>\n<p>Provide technical advise and instruction for students and faculty in the proper operation of assigned media equipment, and of appropriate instructional materials stored and utilized within facility;<\/p>\n<p>Establish and maintain schedules for use of equipment and materials; maintain records (e.g., number of patrons using facilities, materials circulated, equipment maintenance repairs, etc.);<\/p>\n<p>Assist faculty in administering examinations and monitoring media laboratory activities; organize and catalog media instructional materials, may type catalog cards and listings, maintain master inventory of material holdings and media equipment used in this facility;<\/p>\n<p>In support of faculty and course work requirements, order tapes, film strips, slides and records; keep inventory of all assigned media equipment and materials;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate and participate in preventative maintenance of media equipment and systems; may order repair of serious equipment malfunctions;<\/p>\n<p>May evaluate required media equipment and materials, consult with faculty and media personnel, recommend purchase of media equipment and materials;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High school graduate or equivalent and three years full time experience as a Media Services Operator, or equivalent OR two years of college course work in education, radio TV, or related field, and one year of full time related work experience; OR three years of related work experience and training.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>07\/18\/1975: New Class<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17562 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22359 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) DEFINITION Coordinate the operation, maintenance, and scheduling of a media laboratory, and the acquisition of instructional media equipment and materials for the use within that facility; may direct the work of other employees.
