{"id":5045,"date":"2024-03-20T14:13:36","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T21:13:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5045"},"modified":"2025-05-22T13:25:13","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T20:25:13","slug":"media-technician-supervisor","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/media-technician-supervisor\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Technician Supervisor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17522 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv)<br \/>\n22337 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supervise staff and oversee the operation, maintenance and scheduling of media equipment, materials and facilities; coordinate the production of media materials for instruction, institution promotion, staff development, and\/or special events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate a variety of activities in media services such as graphics, photography, audio visual and video equipment operations, and multi-media computerized systems operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Establish scheduling procedures and oversee manual and\/or computerized scheduling, delivery, and retrieval systems for media equipment and materials and rental materials;<\/p>\n<p>Provide technical advice and assistance to students, faculty, outside clients, and staff in the proper use and operation of audio-visual equipment, photography techniques, multi-media presentations, and visual aids;<\/p>\n<p>Establish and monitor unit policy and procedures regarding copyright law and &#8220;Fair Use&#8221; guidelines as they apply to duplication, production and presentation of media materials;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate and perform the set up and operation of equipment used in closed circuit video production, computer\/video systems, and\/or 2-way live video\/satellite conferencing including cameras, recording devices, sound and lighting equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Review manufacturers specifications, evaluate all types of media equipment and materials, consult with clients and recommend the purchase and installation of media equipment and materials;<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the maintenance of computerized and\/or manual inventories of equipment, furniture and supplies; requisition materials from local sources; produce statistical reports of equipment and media usage;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in the development, monitoring and maintenance of the media operations budget;<\/p>\n<p>May direct preventative maintenance of media equipment and systems;<\/p>\n<p>May oversee operations and scheduling of off-air and satellite tapings of teleconferences and telecourses;<\/p>\n<p>May produce and instruct others in the manual and\/or computerized production of transparencies, projection slides, charts, graphs, diagrams and posters; develop black and white and color film;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High school graduation AND one year of experience as a Media Technician Senior.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/03\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n04\/14\/1995: Revise Class\/Title<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17522 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv) 22337 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Supv) BASIC FUNCTION Supervise staff and oversee the operation, maintenance and scheduling of [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":96,"featured_media":0,"parent":12,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5045","page","type-page","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
