{"id":5018,"date":"2024-03-20T13:22:10","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T20:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5018"},"modified":"2025-05-22T13:45:52","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T20:45:52","slug":"medical-transcription-supv","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/medical-transcription-supv\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical Transcription Supv"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18024 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv)<br \/>\n22471 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supervise medical transcriptionists and other assigned personnel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.<\/p>\n<p>A Medical Transcriptionist Supervisor typically supervises eight to thirty employees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Define and interpret applicable rules, procedures and regulations for employees and clients; resolve problems between department staff and clients, both within and outside of the institution;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and implement policies and procedures, forms, work methods and standards, and schedules to be followed by department staff; establish job priorities and coordinate work flow;<\/p>\n<p>Direct the preparation of departmental records, including statements of income and expenditures, and summaries of departmental operations;<\/p>\n<p>Translate equipment vendor instructions to employees;<\/p>\n<p>Interview, check references, and select staff; evaluate staff performance and recommend training opportunities; identify performance deficiencies; recommend disciplinary action;<\/p>\n<p>Direct the maintenance of a variety of statistical materials for response to medical staff and administrator inquiries;<\/p>\n<p>Recommend budget requirements to accommodate staffing, equipment, supply and facility needs;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the work of medical transcriptionists as required;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High School graduation AND four years of occupational-level medical transcriptionist experience, including three years of experience utilizing terminology of multiple body systems or in a multi-speciality department and one year of experience as a lead transcriptionist.
