Assist with budget planning and coordinate staff education activities.<\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, exercise advanced technical knowledge ophthalmology and patient care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coordinate the daily operations, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;<\/p>\n<p>Oversee the triage process, monitor patient flow, and staffing levels; evaluate data to optimize clinic operations;<\/p>\n<p>Develop training programs for technicians and students; demonstrate specific techniques and equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate patient education and patient education materials;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain quality control of division services and equipment; recommend changes and\/or improvements to enhance operations;<\/p>\n<p>Approve requests for supplies; test and recommend new products; recommend purchase or lease of equipment; maintain inventory control of equipment and supplies;<\/p>\n<p>Assist with orientation of new staff, residents and float pool;<\/p>\n<p>Implement and evaluate orientation programs, provide on-going staff education;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate maintenance of equipment; evaluate equipment for effectiveness;<\/p>\n<p>May perform the work of the Ophthalmic Technicians;<\/p>\n<p>Work with Residency Coordinator to ensure Resident Coverage;<\/p>\n<p>Monitory inventory and order supplies;<\/p>\n<p>Work closely with other staff to ensure smooth, daily clinic operations;<\/p>\n<p>Schedule and lead staff in-services and meetings;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completion of an ophthalmic or orthoptic technician program AND five years of ophthalmic experience AND certification appropriate for the clinical specialty;
