BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Independently provides direct optical services including, but not limited to fitting, measuring, dispensing, and adjusting eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other optical devises as prescribed by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Provides high level of customer service to scheduled and walk-in clients; cashiering; inventory; ordering eyeglass frames and contact lenses; and ensuring the accuracy and quality of optical devices dispensed and sold at Eyes On James.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Interprets eyeglass and\/or contact lens prescriptions written by an ophthalmologist or optometrist;<\/p>\n

Opens and closes the retail shop in accordance with Harborview Medical Center (HMC) policies;<\/p>\n

Serves as a cashier according to HMC Policy, including balancing daily receipts and performing cashier duties;<\/p>\n

Provides assistance to customers on frame selection and fitting according to style and color, and ensure that frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions and places orders to off-site lab\/vendor for fabrication of eyewear and contact lenses and ensures accuracy of returning orders;<\/p>\n

Instructs customers on eyeglass and contact lens care and use;<\/p>\n

Schedules appointments for patients with the retail shop\u2019s optometry physician;<\/p>\n

Performs other duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Washington State Dispensing Optician License<\/p>\n

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer\u2019s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses\/certifications are obtained for each position.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
