BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Direct the operations section of a large parking services program.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Direct an operations section of a major parking program. Incumbents are second-line supervisors, have responsibility for more than one work shift and coordinate parking for major campus events requiring direct and detailed communication with public safety, fire, health and other related departments.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Develop and implement parking operations procedures and policies;<\/p>\n

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;<\/p>\n

Direct the maintenance of parking system facilities and equipment; determine scope of work, coordinate with and advise trade and maintenance supervisors on job requirements;<\/p>\n

Conduct special parking operations studies; prepare reports as necessary;<\/p>\n

Evaluate and determine equipment, materials and supplies needs;<\/p>\n

Resolve parking complaints;<\/p>\n

Coordinate special parking concerns and\/or requirements for special events, construction, reserved parking, with campus administrators; coordinate closure of facilities with clients;<\/p>\n

Determine staff and equipment requirements for major functions designed for community involvement and attendance, e.g., football games, theatre and arts performances and graduations; supervise operations including vehicle parking, boat moorage, cash accountability and other agency involvement;<\/p>\n

May perform the duties of Parking Supervisor II;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

High School Diploma, or GED Certificate; AND five years of experience in a high-volume parking system, two years of which must be in a supervisory capacity. College coursework in business administration, engineering, or related field, may substitute, year-for-year, for required experience, except for the two years of supervisory experience.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
