CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Process and resolve patient accounts receivable.<\/p>\n

BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a working lead, lead Patient Account Representatives and perform the work of a Patient Account Representative.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under general supervision, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of Patient Account Representatives, train and orient staff, provide feedback on employee performance, and identify and resolve problems.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participate in interviewing applicants and training and orienting new employees to the department;<\/p>\n

Provide feedback to supervisor for employee performance evaluations, corrective action plans and training plans;<\/p>\n

Review work and provide instruction to improve efficiencies and accuracy in account resolution and to ensure compliance with established procedures;<\/p>\n

Schedule coverage as needed;<\/p>\n

Liaise with payers and UW Medicine entities to resolve complicated billing issues;<\/p>\n

Answer questions from staff; identify and resolve problems or unusual situations; recommend changes as necessary;<\/p>\n

Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest operational changes;<\/p>\n

Participate in and\/or lead special project work;<\/p>\n

Maintain confidentiality of information, including protected health information (PHI);<\/p>\n

Participate in and attend meetings and training as required;<\/p>\n

Perform the work of Patient Account Representatives;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

High School graduation or equivalent AND three years of experience in patient accounting, customer service, or a related office environment.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n

Classification series encompasses the work formerly performed by Patient Financial Services Specialist 1 (18081), Patient Financial Services Specialist 2 (18082), and Patient Financial Services Supervisor (18083).
