{"id":4843,"date":"2024-03-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4843"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:01:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:01:09","slug":"payroll-technician-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/payroll-technician-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Payroll Technician Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17062 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22230 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead payroll technical\/clerical staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead payroll technical\/clerical staff in payroll-related activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of employees;<\/p>\n<p>Interpret payroll, accounting and other payroll-related policies; work with departmental personnel to resolve discrepancies as required; suggest and assist in implementation of new payroll policies and procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Ensure payroll deadlines are met; review and check work for procedural compliance and accuracy; resolve discrepancies;<\/p>\n<p>Authorize, review or enter payroll transaction; assign or perform EDP payroll file maintenance;<\/p>\n<p>Carry out special payroll projects and reports as assigned;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in the selection and evaluation of employees;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the duties of Payroll Technician II;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two years of full-time experience as a Payroll Technician II, or equivalent; nine quarter hours or six semester hours of college-level course work in accounting may substitute for six months of required experience;<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>as Associate of Arts Degree, or equivalent in accounting or business may substitute for one year of required experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>07\/22\/85: New Class<br \/>\n07\/02\/90: Revise MQ<br \/>\n06\/01\/05: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17062 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22230 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) BASIC FUNCTION Lead payroll technical\/clerical staff.
