Performs all duties under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under direct supervision, performs technical pharmaceutical functions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prepares medications for dispensing including prepackaging, counting, pouring, labeling and delivering medications;<\/p>\n<p>Loads medication containers or unit dose drawers for the medication distribution system;<\/p>\n<p>Packages sterile and non-sterile medication into single and multiple dose containers using appropriate techniques;<\/p>\n<p>Assists in preparing pharmaceutical solutions for external, internal and intravenous use;<\/p>\n<p>Monitors and replenishes drug stock in the pharmacy, floor stock in nursing medication areas and drug stock in emergency drug kits; inventories and orders medications;<\/p>\n<p>Performs basic computer functions for medication preparation such as charge\/credit, label generation, admission\/discharge\/transfer activity updates;<\/p>\n<p>Answers telephone and responds to questions not requiring a pharmacist&#8217;s professional judgment;<\/p>\n<p>Cleans designated areas of the pharmacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High School graduation or GED Certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEGAL REQUIRMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State of Washington Pharmacy Assistant registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>05\/10\/2007: New class, consolidates 6037 Pharmacy Assistant, 53710 Pharmacy Assistant A; adopted 05\/10\/2007, effective 07\/01\/2007.<br \/>\n06\/22\/2011: New to SEIU<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 18037 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) 22474 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) DEFINITION Assists the pharmacist in technical pharmacy activities including the preparation and [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":96,"featured_media":0,"parent":12,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-4834","page","type-page","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
