{"id":4819,"date":"2024-03-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4819"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:01:02","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:01:02","slug":"photographer-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/photographer-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Photographer 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17781 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22435 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform a variety of photographic tasks using digital or film photography; take still pictures of medical, scientific and\/or other technically difficult subjects such as biochemical gels or anatomical specimens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, perform a variety of technical photographic tasks such as photomicrography and color printing or that require using advanced digital camera skills and on-camera flash techniques, studio strobe lighting systems, including preparation of digital images for publication in print or on a website by various software and hardware tools such as Photoshop, and performing post production and color management of digital images.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Photograph subjects of an unusually fragile nature such as biochemical gels, anatomical specimens and light and pressure-sensitive charts, etc.;<\/p>\n<p>Take still pictures of art work, rare maps, books, archival specimens and clinical and surgical procedures in clinics or operating rooms;<\/p>\n<p>Plan, organize and prepare photographic materials for public relations and visual aid programs;<\/p>\n<p>Photograph subjects employing less commonly used photographic techniques such as infra-red, ultra-violet and polarized light, including bright field in both black and white and color;<\/p>\n<p>Take photographs in studio and on location using appropriate lighting techniques and equipment, such as studio strobe lights, hot lights, on-camera flash, outside AC strobe units and related accessories; photographs may include table-top, aerials, sports and events.<\/p>\n<p>Apply &#8220;digital darkroom&#8221; skills, such as monitor calibration and color management, as well as performing imaging-related software and hardware updates, computer troubleshooting, data back-ups and troubleshooting external device compatibility;<\/p>\n<p>Use advanced features of Adobe Photoshop and other digital image editing and workflow software;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain a digital workflow such as a large image file database, which may or may not be accessible via the web to the campus community or general public;<\/p>\n<p>Use advanced Mac OS knowledge relating to management of digital images;<\/p>\n<p>Use database software, such as Microsoft Access, as well as other Microsoft Office or similar software applications;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare images for use on institutional websites;<\/p>\n<p>Use image capturing devices such as flatbed and negative scanners;<\/p>\n<p>Schedule photo shoots and meet logistical needs of various parties;<\/p>\n<p>Work with graphic artists, art directors and various University staff to produce images that meet their specific needs;<\/p>\n<p>Strong organizational skills to independently manage and coordinate all facets of scheduling, capturing, production and usage of digital or film images;<\/p>\n<p>May participate as instructor in employee in-service educational programs;<\/p>\n<p>May apply advanced 35mm and medium format film camera skills;<\/p>\n<p>May apply advanced black and white darkroom knowledge;<\/p>\n<p>May perform duties of Photographer 1;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Three years of experience in still photography, including one year as a Photographer I or equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/03\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n09\/23\/1985: Revise Class<br \/>\n07\/02\/1990: Revise MQ<br \/>\n05\/01\/2000: New to CSA<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<br \/>\n06\/01\/2008: Revise Class<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17781 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22435 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) BASIC FUNCTION Perform a variety of photographic tasks using digital or film photography; take still pictures of medical, scientific and\/or other technically difficult subjects such as biochemical gels or anatomical specimens.
