CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n

This classification series defines physical therapist work performed at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), UWMC Clinics, and Hall Health Center. Positions in this job assess patient status, plan, administer and evaluate physical therapy services.<\/p>\n

BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform patient assessment, physical therapy treatment and evaluation.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the entry level of the Physical Therapist class series. Under direct supervision, assess, plan, administer and evaluate physical therapy patients. Incumbents are new graduates or licensed physical therapists who have not practiced for the past three years and may need hours toward re-licensure.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform evaluations of patients; review charts, choose appropriate evaluation measures and independently develop treatment plans;<\/p>\n

Plan and implement treatment programs using physical agents, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and\/or therapeutic activities;<\/p>\n

Write initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and home programs;<\/p>\n

Ensure billing is completed and submitted. Meet department productivity index;<\/p>\n

Safely administer treatments and modalities;<\/p>\n

Participate as a member of intra- and multi-disciplinary teams in developing treatment goals and evaluating patient progress;<\/p>\n

Participate in evidence-based in-service given to the staff;<\/p>\n

Communicate with different stakeholders; provide information orally and in writing to physicians, staff, patients and their families, as well as administrative team and outside entities;<\/p>\n

Mentor medical assistants, student assistants (work study), and volunteers; may collaborate with physical therapy assistants to manage a caseload in reviewing care plans and follow up visits;<\/p>\n

Complete daily charge documents; maintain other clinical records;<\/p>\n

Maintain familiarity with all physical therapy services provided; may participate in process improvement activities;<\/p>\n

Maintain clean, safe working environment; and<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Current Washington State license or interim permit to practice as a Physical Therapist.<\/p>\n

Completion of Physical Therapy program. Physical ability to move patients and equipment.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
