{"id":4786,"date":"2024-03-01T11:39:49","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T19:39:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4786"},"modified":"2025-05-22T14:43:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T21:43:59","slug":"physician-assistant-advanced-registered-nurse-practitioner-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/physician-assistant-advanced-registered-nurse-practitioner-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Physician Assistant\/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18936 (E S SEIU 1199NW HMC PA-ARNP)<br \/>\n23192 (NE H NI SEIU 1199NW HMC PA-ARNP)<br \/>\n23313 (NE S SEIU 1199NW HMC PA-ARNP)<\/p>\n<p>21202 (E S SEIU 1199NW Res\/HH)<br \/>\n23217 (NE H NI SEIU 1199NW Res\/HH)<br \/>\n23401 (NE S SEIU 1199NW Res\/HH)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioner Leads in a clinical area, direct the work of other assigned staff, act as unit liaison, perform educational and preceptor role.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regularly assign, instruct and review the work of Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioners and\/or other assigned staff; function under general direction of an attending physician.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of assigned employees;<\/p>\n<p>Direct the preparation and maintenance of schedules and staff assignments;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in the selection and evaluation process of Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioners and support personnel;<\/p>\n<p>Act as unit liaison with community agencies;<\/p>\n<p>Develop educational programs for staff including orientation and continuing education;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and prepare reports;<\/p>\n<p>Conduct needs assessments;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate the preparation of statistics;<\/p>\n<p>Perform duties of the Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioners;<\/p>\n<p>May serve as a clinical preceptor and\/or function as a teaching resource for other health care professionals during clinical rotation;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Washington, or as a Physician&#8217;s Assistant (PA) in the State of Washington; AND two years of experience as a Health Care Specialist or equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>Must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the organized medical staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for Hospital-based positions.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>02\/01\/2007: New Class<br \/>\n02\/01\/2016: Shorten title from Health Care Specialist-Inpatient or Emergency Department to Health Care Specialist Lead and move employees from Health Care Specialist-Lead (8934) into job code (8936)<br \/>\n06\/27\/2017: Change job code to Workday format<br \/>\n10\/16\/2017: New to 1199NW: Class adopted for UW contract classified staff per PERC decision to add this title to 1199NW Research RN\/Hall Health RN bargaining unit, 12\/27\/2016 (Case #128435-E-16).
