Assess, plan and implement treatment programs as referred by a physician.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, assess, plan and implement therapeutic recreation services for patients with complex physical and\/or mental disabilities. Direct the work of and evaluate therapeutic recreation students and\/or volunteers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform complex assessments of patients in a specialty service;<\/p>\n<p>Instruct the patient in adapting to the recreational and community environment;<\/p>\n<p>Organize and lead therapeutic recreational activities both in and outside of the hospital environment;<\/p>\n<p>Confer with the interdisciplinary team, individual patients, and family members to develop and recommend patients&#8217; recreational program;<\/p>\n<p>Direct, train and coordinate the work of therapeutic recreation students and\/or volunteers in therapeutic recreational procedures such as patient assessment and community integration; provide feedback to students on progress and complete evaluation for educational program;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain statistical information and documentation related to patient care;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and maintain contact with appropriate community resources;<\/p>\n<p>Operate state motor vehicle to transport patients on community outings;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in securing resources and equipment for assigned area;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and present inservices to students and staff in specialty area;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in clinical studies for the specialty;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Graduation from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation Program AND 18 months of professional therapeutic recreation experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>02\/15\/1991: New Class<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<br \/>\n02\/12\/2024: Add SEIU 1199NW UWMC-NW job code<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 21403 (NE H SEIU 1199NW UWMC Northwest Professional) 23032 (NE H NI SEIU 1199NW UWMC Northwest Professional) BASIC FUNCTION Provide therapeutic recreational services to patients with complex conditions or injuries in a specialty service such as burns, brain injury, pain, and mental health.
