{"id":4592,"date":"2024-02-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4592"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:00:21","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:00:21","slug":"pulmonary-function-technologist-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/pulmonary-function-technologist-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Pulmonary Function Technologist Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18419 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<br \/>\n22602 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead assigned staff in the performance of pulmonary function tests and assess the accuracy of test results; participate in the design of testing techniques; analyze test results for the development of research activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others; under general direction, direct and coordinate the testing activities performed in a pulmonary function laboratory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Direct tests performed by Pulmonary Function Technologists; assess the accuracy of test results;<\/p>\n<p>Perform and participate in the design of advanced testing techniques;<\/p>\n<p>Implement and monitor quality control procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Direct patient scheduling priorities;<\/p>\n<p>Perform mathematical and statistical analysis for the development of research activities and administrative requirements;<\/p>\n<p>Orient physicians in training regarding testing techniques;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain testing equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Monitor and prioritize inventory;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in budget preparation and personnel actions;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the duties of Pulmonary Function Technologist II;<\/p>\n<p>May represent the department at meetings;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two years of experience as a Pulmonary Function Technologist 2 or equivalent<\/p>\n<p>AND<\/p>\n<p>Registration as a Pulmonary Function Technologist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>10\/15\/1976: New class<br \/>\n02\/22\/1988: Revise class.
