Enter treatment planning field data into treatment machines under the general supervision of dosimetry and medical physicists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Deliver a planned course of specialized radiotherapy using equipment and techniques such as cyclotron-based neutron radiotherapy, fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery, intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy, dose-intensive conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, and the treatment of pediatric patients under general anesthesia;<\/p>\n<p>Observe the patient s general condition; recognize the need for and deliver emotional and psychological support to patients; refer patients to departmental staff and other health care professionals as needed; reinforce the radiation oncology physicians recommendations regarding general activities, diet, prevention and treatment of reactions to radiotherapy;<\/p>\n<p>Enter treatment planning field data into treatment machines under the general supervision of dosimetry and medical physicists; maintain accurate and daily records of technical, legal, and statistical aspects of treatment which will include both hard copy and electronic file format;<\/p>\n<p>Assist radiation oncology physicians in tumor localization, simulation and dosimetry procedures using CT scanners, simulators, computer dosimetric calculations and\/or other equipment and techniques;<\/p>\n<p>Check patient s prescription and treatment record for errors and work with radiation oncology physicians in delivering the prescribed course of therapy;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in training radiation therapy technologists, other assigned staff, and student technologists;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in departmental conferences relating to patients being treated on the equipment to which they are assigned;<\/p>\n<p>May perform daily quality assurance tests on radiation therapy equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Registered as a radiation therapy technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization AND six months of experience in one or more specialized radiation therapy areas<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>11\/09\/2001: New Class<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 18438 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) 22615 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) BASIC FUNCTION Provide specialty radiation therapy services to patients.
