{"id":4572,"date":"2024-02-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-05T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4572"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:00:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T02:00:18","slug":"radiation-therapy-technologist","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/radiation-therapy-technologist\/","title":{"rendered":"Radiation Therapy Technologist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18445 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<br \/>\n22617 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provide radiation therapy to patients utilizing a variety of radiation therapy equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provide basic and routine radiation therapy to patients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision, deliver basic and routine radiation therapy such as 4-field pelvis, anterior and post lung, whole brain, 3-field head and neck, breast tangents, and external electron beam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Deliver a planned course of basic and routine radiation therapy such as 4-field pelvis, anterior and post lung, whole brain, 3-field head and neck, breast tangents, and external electron beam utilizing radiation therapy equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Observe patient&#8217;s condition; recognize the need for emotional and psychological support to patients; refer patients to departmental staff and other health-care professionals as necessary; reinforce radiation oncologists&#8217; recommendations regarding general activities, diet, prevention, and treatment of reactions to radiation therapy;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain detailed and accurate daily records of technical, legal and statistical components of treatment;<\/p>\n<p>Assist radiation oncologists in tumor localization, simulation and dosimetry procedures using CT scanners, simulators, computers and\/or other equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Check patient prescription and treatment records for errors;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in training radiation therapy technologists, other assigned staff and a variety of students;<\/p>\n<p>May perform daily quality assurance tests on radiation therapy equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Registry eligible, and registered within one year of employment, in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/12\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n07\/22\/1985: Revise Class\/Title<br \/>\n12\/07\/1990: Revise MQ<br \/>\n11\/09\/2001: Revise Class\/MQ<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 18445 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) 22617 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) CLASS SERIES CONCEPT Provide radiation therapy to patients utilizing a variety of radiation therapy equipment.
