{"id":4555,"date":"2024-02-05T11:49:01","date_gmt":"2024-02-05T19:49:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4555"},"modified":"2025-05-22T15:09:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T22:09:18","slug":"refrigeration-mechanic-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/refrigeration-mechanic-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Refrigeration Mechanic Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18861 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22853 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead journey refrigeration mechanics in the maintenance, installation, and repair of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, including sophisticated types of laboratory and experimental refrigeration equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility to lead journey refrigeration mechanics on a project or job location, to instruct other assigned workers, to correct and specify methods, and to perform skilled refrigeration mechanic work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform all duties of a refrigeration mechanic; lead assigned personnel;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and maintain a schedule of preventative maintenance;<\/p>\n<p>Assign maintenance and repair work of journey refrigeration mechanics and assist in troubleshooting special problems;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain a list of refrigeration equipment as to location and type; keep shop and repair manuals up to date;<\/p>\n<p>Order parts and materials as necessary to carry out repair and maintenance work;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare estimates of repair work as requested, and keep records of repair work performed to facilitate future work and methods of maintenance;<\/p>\n<p>Design repair modifications to improve operation of equipment or to replace obsolete parts;<\/p>\n<p>Inspect and write complaint reports to defective equipment under contractors warranty;<\/p>\n<p>May perform work in other trades;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One year, full-time experience as a journey refrigeration mechanic or equivalent trade skill.
