Administer the activities of a research laboratory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;<\/p>\n<p>Develop plans for facility changes and equipment acquisition and utilization; design or review design of equipment and facilities;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate use of equipment and facilities by laboratory personnel;<\/p>\n<p>Monitor laboratory procedures and assure compliance with Health and Safety regulations;<\/p>\n<p>Ensure quality control within the laboratory;<\/p>\n<p>Direct record keeping and data collection;<\/p>\n<p>May monitor and assist with preparation of budgets;<\/p>\n<p>May prepare cost analyses of equipment and procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Perform duties of Research Technologist III<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in an appropriate related field of science or technology AND two years&#8217; experience in a field applicable to the assignment.<\/p>\n<p>A Master&#8217;s Degree may be substituted for one year of required experience. Experience at the professional-level may be substituted, year-for-year, for the degree.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of position vacancy (recruiting bulletin) may specify course work or experience within a specific discipline if determined necessary by the personnel officer.
