Advise management officials and\/or employees concerning modifications necessary for compliance with applicable safety standards; conduct safety training programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Assist in planning and implementing safety programs for institution employees, students, and visitors;<\/p>\n<p>Investigate accidents and injuries; recommend corrective action as necessary;<\/p>\n<p>Advise employees and\/or supervisors concerning requirements for compliance with applicable safety codes, standards, and regulations;<\/p>\n<p>Conduct safety inspections of institutional facilities, equipment, and activities either independently or as a member of an inspection team;<\/p>\n<p>Review engineering and architectural drawings and specifications for building renovations and\/or new construction for compliance with safety codes; recommend modifications or safeguards to minimize safety hazards;<\/p>\n<p>Conduct educational safety programs such as employee safety orientation, supervisor&#8217;s safety training, radiation safety, and diving safety;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain records and write reports regarding accidents, work-related injuries and safety hazards; draft recommended institutional response to occupational injury and worker&#8217;s compensation claims;<\/p>\n<p>May perform radiological safety duties under supervision;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Bachelor&#8217;s Degree with major study in safety program management, safety engineering, biological or physical science, or closely related field; AND two years of professional experience in environmental health and safety programs.<\/p>\n<p>A Master&#8217;s Degree with major study in safety program management, safety engineering, or closely related field may be substituted for the above professional work experience requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/18\/1974: New Class<br \/>\n03\/17\/1977: Revise Title<br \/>\n10\/19\/1984: Revise Title &amp; Class<br \/>\n07\/02\/1990: Revise MQ<br \/>\n05\/01\/2000: New to CSA<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17686 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22402 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) CLASS SERIES CONCEPT Plan and implement accident prevention programs as a component of environmental health and safety activities for protection of employees, students, and visitors.
