{"id":4493,"date":"2024-02-04T22:56:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-05T06:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4493"},"modified":"2025-05-23T10:12:43","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T17:12:43","slug":"security-guard","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/security-guard\/","title":{"rendered":"Security Guard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17644 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22385 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maintain campus security by inspection of buildings and grounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions allocated to this class serve basically as watch, although the incumbents may be required to be commissioned in accordance with Washington State statute.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Patrol and inspect an assigned area of buildings and grounds to maintain security from fire, theft, illegal entry, property damage, or unauthorized use of buildings;<\/p>\n<p>Lock doors and windows; report needed repairs and safety hazards to proper authority;<\/p>\n<p>Make regular rounds; punch time clock; activate security alarm system after securing buildings;<\/p>\n<p>Receive, check, and sign for registered mail and other deliveries made after normal working hours;<\/p>\n<p>Monitor closed circuit television receivers and alarm systems;<\/p>\n<p>May be required to drive automobile and provide escort service;<\/p>\n<p>Provide directions upon request;<\/p>\n<p>May be required to perform first aid;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Physical capacity to perform duties; possession of a valid motor vehicle driver&#8217;s license; no previous felony convictions.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/03\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n05\/01\/2000: New to CSA<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 17644 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) 22385 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv) DEFINITION Maintain campus security by inspection of buildings and grounds.
