{"id":4489,"date":"2024-02-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-05T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4489"},"modified":"2026-06-27T18:59:52","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T01:59:52","slug":"sheet-metal-mechanic-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/sheet-metal-mechanic-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheet Metal Mechanic Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18867 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22859 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead and work with sheet metal mechanics to perform journey-level sheet metal work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class are distinguished by the responsibility to assign and lead work at a project or job location, to instruct other journey sheet metal workers, to correct and specify methods, and to perform skilled sheet metal repair and fabrication work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform all duties of a sheet metal mechanic;<\/p>\n<p>Lead assigned personnel in the performance of work;<\/p>\n<p>Assure adherence to safety rules and precautions by assigned personnel;<\/p>\n<p>Develop preliminary cost estimates for construction, installation, and repair;<\/p>\n<p>Develop methods and procedures followed by assigned personnel;<\/p>\n<p>May perform work in other trades;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One year, full-time experience as a journey sheet metal mechanic, or equivalent trade skill.
