{"id":4396,"date":"2024-01-17T12:48:39","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T20:48:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4396"},"modified":"2025-05-23T14:11:41","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T21:11:41","slug":"telephone-communications-operator-hosp","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/telephone-communications-operator-hosp\/","title":{"rendered":"Telephone Communications Operator-Hosp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17281 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22269 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Receive and route incoming calls on telephone switching system serving an institution and teaching hospital or medical center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within established guidelines, provide multiple communications services such as radio paging, two-way radio, or public address system, including on-call consultations, emergency announcements and notifications in accordance with the standard operating procedures Implement institution\/hospital security and emergency procedures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Receive and route incoming telephone calls to appropriate departments or personnel; place local and long distance calls; transfer calls; record and relay messages via telephone or paging facilities;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain familiarity with security and emergency procedures; initiate necessary coordination and action; monitor alarm systems;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain locator files; locate personnel by radio paging, two-way radio, public address, etc.;<\/p>\n<p>Answer requests for information; assist callers by determining nature of business involved;<\/p>\n<p>May perform clerical duties including some typing;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High School Diploma, or GED Certificate; AND one year of experience as a Telephone Communications Operator, or equivalent.
