{"id":4392,"date":"2024-01-17T12:45:08","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T20:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4392"},"modified":"2025-05-23T14:12:33","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T21:12:33","slug":"telephone-communications-supervisor","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/telephone-communications-supervisor\/","title":{"rendered":"Telephone Communications Supervisor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17286 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv)<br \/>\n22271 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coordinate a central telephone switching system for an institution and teaching hospital or medical center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supervise assigned personnel; develop and implement procedures to facilitate the smooth operation of an institution&#8217;s telephone communications system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and implement department policies and procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate emergency procedures with institution administrative staff;<\/p>\n<p>Serve as liaison with other departments in the investigation and resolution of telephone communications problems between departments and\/or with the public;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in the preparation of the department budget;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in planning new telephone systems;<\/p>\n<p>Arrange for telephone equipment repairs, installations or modifications;<\/p>\n<p>May perform the duties of Telephone Communications Operators;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High School Diploma, or GED Certificate; AND three years of experience (including one year of telephone lead or supervisory experience) as a Telephone Communications Operator\/Telephone Communications Operator &#8211; Hospital.
