BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lead others and drive trucks and vans of all types to transport materials, equipment, and people.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regularly assign, instruct, and check the work of others.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lead delivery and truck drivers performing a variety of duties such as: parcel post pickup, refuse collection, furniture transportation and storage, passenger transportation, laboratory equipment and supplies delivery and maintenance and building supplies delivery;<\/p>\n

Maintain overtime records and assist supervisor in assigning, scheduling, inspection, and laying out work of driver personnel;<\/p>\n

Check progress of delivery driver jobs; provide estimates regarding necessary equipment, manpower, and completion times; prepare work schedules;<\/p>\n

Drive trucks and vans of all sizes; assist others in movement and storage of furniture, supplies, and equipment;<\/p>\n

May dispatch delivery and pickup drivers;<\/p>\n

May handle and transport hazardous materials;<\/p>\n

Perform duties of a Truck Driver 2;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years\u2019 experience as a Truck Driver or similar work AND possession of a valid motor vehicle driver’s license AND possession of a commercial driver\u2019s license or ability to obtain if required in the position.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
