{"id":4325,"date":"2024-01-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4325"},"modified":"2026-06-27T18:59:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T01:59:14","slug":"warehouse-worker-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/warehouse-worker-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Warehouse Worker Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18559 (NE S WFSE Campuswide)<br \/>\n22684 (NE H NI WFSE Campuswide)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lead staff and perform warehouse functions in a major area within a large warehouse or a decentralized warehouse; receive, record, store, issue, and ship stock and supplies; and dispose of surplus property.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oversee the loading, unloading, movement, and distribution of materials, including flammable and hazardous materials, and equipment, and oversee assembly of goods received;<\/p>\n<p>Determine appropriate storage locations and oversee placement of stock;<\/p>\n<p>Unpack incoming items and check for condition, quantity, and type against shipping documents; make stock identification tags, code acquisition and handling charges, and process bills of lading;<\/p>\n<p>Issue warehouse stock to fill requisitions; write issue tickets and obtain receipt for goods issued;<\/p>\n<p>Spot check stock inventory; verify accuracy of records; assure proper storage conditions and practices;<\/p>\n<p>Take physical inventories on regular basis;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain warehouse arrangement and maximize space utilization to accommodate current stock;<\/p>\n<p>Operate material handling equipment used in receipt, storage, and shipment of goods within warehouse areas;<\/p>\n<p>Establish delivery priorities and delivery destination points through coordination with activities supported;<\/p>\n<p>Oversee disposal of surplus or excess property;<\/p>\n<p>May occasionally drive trucks to deliver or pickup materials;<\/p>\n<p>May operate an automated order processing system;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the duties of a Warehouse Worker II;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in warehousing, stockkeeping, shipping, or receiving.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/03\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n01\/13\/1977: Revise Title &amp; Class<br \/>\n08\/04\/1989: Revise Title &amp; Class<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 18559 (NE S WFSE Campuswide) 22684 (NE H NI WFSE Campuswide) BASIC FUNCTION Lead staff and perform warehouse functions in a major area within a large warehouse or a decentralized warehouse; receive, record, store, issue, and ship stock and supplies; and dispose of surplus property.
