Positions in this job assess patient status, evaluate, plan, and administer speech and language services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provides professional speech pathology services in the areas of motor speech, language, cognition, swallowing, voice, and\/or alternative communication under the guidance of a licensed speech language pathologist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under structured supervision, participates in planning and administering evaluation and treatment of patients. Incumbents are new graduate trainees requiring clinical fellowship experience for certification of clinical competence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Participates in planning and implementing evaluations and treatment programs for motor speech, language, cognition, swallowing, hearing and\/or voice disorders;<\/p>\n<p>Participates in writing initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and home programs;<\/p>\n<p>Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team including patient and family in developing treatment goals and evaluating patient progress;<\/p>\n<p>Maintains service related records and adheres to documentation requirements for reimbursement purposes;<\/p>\n<p>Maintains familiarity with all speech therapy services provided;<\/p>\n<p>Maintains clean, safe working environment; and,<\/p>\n<p>Perform other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interim speech-language pathology permit by the state of Washington<br \/>\nAND<br \/>\nMaster\u2019s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders or equivalent degree approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>12\/01\/2023: New class added to the Speech-Language Pathologist series.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 18964 (E S SEIU 1199NW HMC SW\/Dietitian) 23635 (NE S SEIU 1199NW HMC SW\/Dietitian) 23634 (NE H NI SEIU 1199NW HMC SW\/Dietitian) CLASS SERIES CONCEPT This classification series defines speech-language pathology work performed at Harborview Medical Center.
